After a chance meeting with one of the Brand Directors, we had a conversation about social media content and strategy. Whilst their radio controlled products are 1/5 to 1/10th scale, they’re no longer the toys I remember from the Eighties. These RC’s can do up to 200mph! They can weigh 15kg… and cost thousands. They’re pretty serious and as someone that loved his RC cars as a teenager, I thoroughly enjoyed working on these brands. What was ad-hoc at first became more permanent, and now I have been consulting for Horizon Hobby for four years.

Much of the social media strategy involves working with - and maximising - brand partnerships. These scale Radio Controlled vehicles have partnerships in NASCAR, Moto X, F1, Desert Racing and Monster Jam. Activations and photoshoots; stunts and tricks. From working with Casey Currie and his Trophy Jeep truck, to spending a day on the water driving jet boats with Blake Wilkey. The NASCAR partnership includes Horizon Hobby branding on the Team FRM Mustang; and that extends to a scale RC replica and most of the NASCAR grid being replicated.

Content is always organic (not paid for) and ranges from static product-based posts, through to films, Stories and Reels. One-post per day for each brand and monthly Reports for each Brand to monitor results and trends.
